Prologue

Earlier this year, a faculty member asked me point-blank, “What do you do here?”

Wow, I thought. That is a big question, and for someone who isn’t a huge fan of talking about themselves, answering it is not easy.

How does one express what they do? And more importantly, how does one show how they have grown and expanded over time? A simple solution might be to post my old resume and compare it with my new one. The first would show my skills circa 2015 when I started as Webmaster at EPS. The latter would highlight the areas I have grown and the new skills I have picked up. While comparing these two documents would illustrate my progression, it wouldn’t fully capture the depth of what this PDP aims to expose.

To me, a deeper dive is needed.

My goal with this PDP is to explore how I have grown as a Tech Administrator over the past few years. Yes, I have been at EPS for almost nine years, but in that time, I have held the titles of Webmaster, Tech Project Manager, Tech Manager, and now Director of IT Operations.

So, to answer the question, “What do I do here?” Well, read on.
